The Kerala High Court today directed the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation not to accommodate passengers beyond the seating capacity in its high speed super class buses.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Antony Dominic and Justice Dama Seshadri Naidu directed that the superfast, express, super express and super deluxe buses of the KSRTC should not accommodate passengers in excess of their seating capacity.
No passengers shall be made to standing in such buses during their services, the court said while considering a plea by activists of a group called Centre for Consumer Education, alleging that the KSRTC was not strictly following the rules made by the government in this regard.
The court directed the KSRTC to strictly abide by the Motor Vehicle Act and Rules.
