With an aim to help women achieve financial empowerment through self-enterprises, Kerala State Women's Commission (KSWC) has proposed to formulate a women-friendly entrepreneurial policy for the state.

The proposed policy envisages promoting entrepreneurship initiatives among women and thus help them attain financial independence.

A top KSWC official said the agency collected opinions from various experts and stakeholders in this regard to formulate a draft policy.

"Financial independence will help women feel more empowered. Starting self enterprises will help them earn themselves and run their family. To achieve the target, our business environ should be more women friendly," KSWC Chairperson K C Rosakutty told PTI.

The Commission recently organised a workshop here in which representatives of various government and other agencies, including Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation, Kerala State Women Development Corporation and state Social Welfare Board participated.

The suggestions collected from them to be included in the policy would be codified and submitted to the government later, she said.

"We are just in the preliminary stages. We are planning to collect suggestions from people from various walks of life in this regard before submitting it to the government," the chairperson added.
