KUFOS to conduct Training Programme for shrimp farmers

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) will conduct a training programme for shrimp farmers on October 25 at its Fisheries Station at Puduveypu.

The programme is intended to make farmers aware of the diseases commonly seen in shrimps and to improve the shrimp culture in the State, by introducing new technologies and farming methods in the sector.

The training programme will focus on eco-friendly farming practices, disease surveillance and diagnosis and potential of Vennamei shrimp culture in Kerala. Experts will lead various sessions on relevant topics, a press release said.

Farmers will be offered chance to visit fish ponds, hatcheries and mangrove nursery and to observe its research initiatives at the Fisheries Station of KUFOS.
 

Former Union minister K V Thomas will inaugurate the programme in the presence of Fisheries Minister K Babu. Vice Chancellor B MadhusoodanaKurup will preside.
