United Naga Council (UNC), a Naga social organisation, has called a 48-hour Manipur bandh from August 11 to press for their demand of 'an alternative (administrative) arrangement' in Manipur.

The bandh would be enforced at all Naga-settled areas of Manipur, a statement issued by them said, adding that the demand meant 'dissociation' of all activities and programmes with the government of Manipur.

Nagas wanted to repudiate all relations with the government of Manipur and demanded an 'alternative arrangement' for the Nagas in Manipur, it said.

On the other hand, Kuki State Demand Committee announced a 48-hour bandh at all Kuki-inhabited areas in Manipur from midnight of August 13 next to press for creation of a 'Kukiland' by breaking the 22, 327 Sq Kms of Manipur.

The committee said it had already submitted a memorandum to the Central government for creation of Kukiland earlier.
