Kumar Ketkar elected as President of Mumbai Press Club

Senior journalist Kumar Ketkar has been elected as the President of the Mumbai Press Club, while Rajesh Mascarenhas of Economic Times as the Chairman, Dharmendra Jore from Mid-Day as the Secretary and Rajanish Kakade as the Joint Secretary in the biennial election held yesterday.

Senior journalists Ayaz Memon and O P Tiwari were elected as Vice-Chairman and Treasurer, respectively.

Despite heavy rains, as many as 784 journalists cast their vote in a record turn-out.

Election was also held for the ten posts of Managing Committee members. Santosh Andhale, Mrityunjay Bose, Lata Mishra, Ashish Subhash Raje, Prakash Ganesh Akolkar, Pravin Vasant Patil, Abhimanyu Shitole, Amit Shanbaug, Ajit Joshi and Sudhakar S Kashyap were elected as members.
 

All the elected officer-bearers belong to 'Progressive Democratic Alliance' panel. The other panel in the fray was United Alliance For Equality.

Mumbai Press Club was founded in 1968.
