Kurukshetra clinic raided for carrying out abortions illegally

A midwife was arrested and kits used for allegedly conducting abortions illegally were confiscated from a clinic in Kurukshetra district during a raid by Haryana health department.

Acting on a tipoff, the team of health officials, constituted by Deputy Commissioner Kurukshetra C G Rajini Kanthan, last evening raided the clinic on the Guga Madi road in the district and police arrested the midwife on a complaint by the team, an official release said here today.

They also confiscated Medical Termination of Pregnancy kit, tablets used for abortion and various types of banned medicines and drugs from the spot, it said.
 

The Kurukshetra district administration had received information that abortions were being illegally conducted at the clinic, the release said.

The health department has recommended registration of a criminal case by the police in this connection, it said.
