Young Indian squash player Kush Kumar today bagged his maiden PSA title by defeating top seed Jamie Haycocks of England in straight games in the summit clash of the USD 5,000 Tasmanian open in Devonport in Australia.

The third seeded Indian, a semi-finalist in the recent National Championship, beat Englishman Haycocks 11-4, 11-5, 13-11.

After scripting several successes as a junior, this was Kush Kumar's first title as a senior pro in a PSA world tour event.

Kush, who has been with the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai since the age of 14, has had a dream run in the tournament. He defeated Rohan Toole of Australia in the first round 11-4, 11-13, 11-2, 11-0, then edged out eighth seeded Thomas Calver (Aus) 11-3, 11-6, 11-7 for a semi-final entry.

The Indian youngster then ousted Irishman Sean Conroy 11-5, 11-5, 11-2 in the semi-finals to book his final berth.
