Kush Kumar, the lone India in fray, kept his hopes alive with an emphatic 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 win over Darren Chan of Malaysia to move the quarterfinals of the WSF world junior squash individual championship in Namibia today.
Quick to judge his rival, Kumar found his touch in the drops and often caught his opponent with good interceptions and drives. At no stage was the Indian, seeded 3/4 in this championship, was troubled as he finished the match in his favour in just 27 minutes.
Earlier, Kumar had beaten Edmon Lopez-Molier of Spain 11-6, 11-4, 11-8 to enter the last sixteen. Another Indian Madhav Dhingra did well to reach the third round with a 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 win voer Callum Lawton of Zimbabwe before going down to Youssef Soliman of Egypt 11-1, 11-4, 11-2.
