Kushkumar, Mahesh and Joshna reach quarterfinals

Joshna Chinappa, Kush Kumar and Mahesh Mangaonkar moved to the quarter finals of the Victorian Open squash tournament, here today.

Third seed Joshna was in fine touch as she made short work of Selena Shaikh of Australia 11-5 11-5 11-2 in the opening round of the USD 15,000 event.

However 12th seed Sachika Ingale made an early exit following a tame first round defeat against sixth seed Amanda Landers Murphy of New Zealand in straight games.

She was outplayed 7-11 2-11 2-11 by the Kiwi player

In the men's section, unseeded Kush, a trainee at the Indian Squash Academy, kept his hopes alive with another encouraging display against Kashif Shuja of New Zealand. He emerged victorious with a 8-11 11-3 11-6 11-3 scorline.
 

Mahesh swept aside the challenge of Joshua Larkins of Australia 11-5 11-6 11-7.
