Chief Secretary M M Kutty today appeared before a Delhi Assembly panel, which had summoned him in connection with alleged irregularities in a cooperative bank, and submitted the Action Taken Report (ATR) in the matter.

According to a source, Kutty also appraised the Assembly's Questions and Reference Committee that a showcause notice was issued to a former Registrar of Cooperative Society (RCS) for not responding to queries raised by the panel.

Last week, Deputy Speaker of Delhi Assembly Rakhi Birla had alleged that the chief secretary had "misled" the Delhi High Court in a matter related to alleged illegal appointments and promotions in the Delhi Nagrik Sehkari Bank Ltd (DNSBL).

"Kutty appeared before the panel at 4:45 pm and submitted the ATR. He also told the committee that a showcause notice was issued to the then RCS in July. The RCS also responded to the showcause notice. The matter is now pending with the Lt Governor," said the source, who did not wish to be named.
