The Khadi and Village Industries Commission has decided to adopt Raisina and Lohtaka, two out of the 100 villages selected under the SmartGram initiative.
The KVIC will establish bee-keeping, spinning, weaving and stitching centres in both the villages and train the villagers so that they can earn a livelihood.
The commission will also implement other skill-oriented and employment-generating programmes for the villagers, and conduct sensitisation programmes for youth about the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
