L&T, Alstom among bidders for Metro-3 corridor power works

Leading domestic and international conglomerates like Larsen & Toubro, Alstom, Tata Projects and Siemens are among the bidders for traction and power supply works for the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 corridor.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), which is implementing the project, received bids from companies including L&T, Alstom, Cobra, Tata Projects, Isolux, Bright Power KEI, Siemens, Leena Powertech Engg, Kanohar Electricals and CHUNG-HSIM Electric & Machinery Mfg Corp.

The pre-qualification bids were opened today.

MMRC plans to complete the bid evaluation in around 60 days.

"Traction and power supply is a very essential part of the project as it will be internally used for various purposes including traction, tunnel ventilation, air conditioning, lifts and escalators as well as for station lighting.
 

"Hence, we will make sure only the best contractors are selected," MMRC Managing Director Ashwini Bhide said.

MMRC has initiated procurement of system works like traction power supply, rolling stock, environmental control/tunnel ventilation system and lifts/escalators.

"The procurement is based on JICA extant guidelines of two stages international competitive bidding," she added.
