L&T bags Rs 2,442 cr order from BSNL

Contract is for supply, trenching, laying, installation, testing and commissioning of optical fibre cable network

Construction firm Larsen & Toubro today said it has won a contract worth Rs 2,442 crore from state-owned BSNL for telecom works across the country.

"The power transmission & distribution business of L&T Construction has secured a major contract worth Rs 2,442 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, the project implementation agency for the Ministry of Defence," the company said in a statement.

The contract is for supply, trenching, laying, installation, testing and commissioning of optical fibre cable network which will establish optical national long distance backbone and optical access routes for the defence network.

L&T Sr Executive Vice President (Infrastructure and Construction) S N Subrahmanyan said: "We are well placed with a complete range of offerings, a nationwide presence and the relevant track record to execute this project to the complete satisfaction of our client."
 

The mega network will be deployed with optic technology which will form the backbone optical highway infrastructure and serve as a communication media for the defence sector.
