Maharashtra Labour Commissioner submitted a "wrong report" to court on the status of implementation of Justice Majithia Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists in print media, Opposition Leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil said today.

Raising the issue through a point of propriety in the Legislative Assembly, Patil said it is apparent that the officer concerned is working under pressure from some quarters.

"Almost 70 per cent media organisations in Maharashtra are yet to implement Wage Board recommendations, despite the court ruling," he said.

He claimed that non-implementation has led to "starvation" among journalists, with a journalist dying recently due to mental shock and poor wages.

"On the other hand, the labour commissioner has submitted the false report to court, based on insufficient information," the Congress leader said.
