The Labour Ministry today launched the new website of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), which allows insured persons to book appointments with ESIC doctors online.

The site, launched by Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya, is an extension of the activities envisaged under the ESIC 2.0: Health Reform Agenda.

"The objective of the new website is to make the access of medical services for insured persons easier," Dattatreya said after launching the website.

This facility will minimise the normal time taken for a reference by ESI dispensaries/hospitals as now the booking can be done online 24x7. The scheme will benefit about 2.03 crore family units of workers, with over 7.89 crore beneficiaries, he added.

Labour Secretary Shankar Aggarwal said this website will provide hassle-free service to the insured and allow them to book appointment with specialist doctors at any of the 36 ESIC hospitals across India at their convenience from anywhere, any time.

"Going ahead, the ministry will try to provide the best possible medical services to all insured persons using telemedicine. Also, they will be able to access their medical and health records online," he added.

Explaining the benefits of the new website, ESIC Director General Deepak Kumar said networking of ESIC hospitals across India enables the insured or their beneficiaries to find out the specialty area in which treatment is offered by the hospital and seek appointment on a convenient date.

The facility also has a feedback mechanism, which allows rating of doctors.
