A labourer couple were killed and three others were seriously injured after being run over by a speeding car on a footpath late last night, city police said.
The car driver lost control and ran over the labourers who were sleeping on the pavement next to their shanties outside Gujarat Housing Board building at Shastri Nagar at around 1 am, an official of Naranpura police station said.
The car was being driven by Nirav Shah.
The deceased were identified as Bhagabhai Marwadi and his wife Lakshmi Marwadi.
After the accident, Shah himself called an ambulance and took the victims to hospital. The police later arrested him.
