LACCFED scam: Ex-MD, 2 other top officials jailed

A court here today sentenced former Managing Director of Labour and Construction Co-operative Federation (LACCFED) to 10 years in prison in connection with an alleged embezzlement in the department.

Sessions Court also slapped a fine of Rs 1.30 crore on Brahm Prakash Singh.

Special judge (PC Act) Lallu Singh also awarded 10 years imprisonment to Pankaj Tripathi, the then GM of LACCFED and it's chief engineer Govind Sharan Srivastava under various charges related to multi crore LACCFED scam.

The three convicts were also slapped with 90 lakh fine each.

On February 10, the court had let off seven persons including three ministers of the previous Mayawati government in the case.
 

However, the court had held seven persons guilty on that day, including the three top officers.

The rest four were also awarded varying sentences today.

Dinesh Kumar Sahu, the then executive engineer, was given seven years imprisonment and Rs 50 Lakh fine.

The then executive engineer Ajay Kumar Dohrey was also sentenced with seven years imprisonment and Rs 25 lakh fine while then executive engineer Sanjay Kumar was sentenced with five years imprisonment and Rs 5 lakh fine.

The then accountant of LACCFED Anil Kumar Agrawal was sentenced with three years imprisonment and fine of Rs 60,000.

As per allegations huge money was embezzled in connection with various works related to the LACCFED.
