At her Amsterdam concert earlier this week, the 26-year-old explained her affinity for marijuana saying cannabis has helped her approach her music from a "spiritual" perspective, reported Sun online.
"I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I've really cut down on drinking. It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music. It's like saying everybody needs to take a breath and it's going to be OK," said Gaga.
The 'Born This Way' hitmaker picked up the ready-rolled marijuana joint off the stage where a fan had thrown it. She had some difficulty opening the package but then immediately lit up and smoked it openly whilst sitting on the stage with her fellow performers.
Cannabis is mostly legalised in the Dutch city, and Gaga took the opportunity to tell her fans about the drug's medical benefits.
Gaga also joked that she was going to talk to US President Barack Obama in a bid to make marijuana legal in America.
The eccentric singer has previously admitted to dabbling in hard drugs in the past, and explained she is now an occasional user of marijuana.
