The Delhi High Court today granted interim protection from arrest till May 23 to a woman accused in connection with a case of police officials allegedly dragging a lady lawyer out of her residence to arrest her despite the court's order against any coercive action.
The FIR relates to an incident of December 18 evening, when lady lawyer Deepa Arya was dragged out of her house.
The lady lawyer had earlier claimed that the Safdarjung Enclave police broke open the main door of her house in Mayur Vihar-I and then dragged her out of her residence while pulling her hair.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, who was hearing the anticipatory bail of the woman, said she should not be arrested till the next date of hearing on May 23.
The counsel for the woman, Purnima Uppal, sought the relief saying she has to take care of her three children and said what was her offence for which her judicial custody was warranted by the Delhi Police six months after the incident.

Delhi Police Standing Counsel (criminal) Rahul Mehra vehemently opposed the plea saying the woman was a part and parcel of everything which the policemen were doing and she was abusing the entire system by threatening and intimidating.
He said police has been searching her for the last several days and her custody was required to unearth the whole conspiracy, including reaching out to other accused and the incident of burning cars of three lawyers.
"If rule of law is not protected by the court today, tomorrow it would be very difficult for a lawyer to stand on this side. She says she has three children, she should have thought about it earlier when she was making everyone dance to her tunes," he argued.
The court, however, said it does not agree with this view.
Advocate Mehmood Pracha, appearing for the lady lawyer, said that in last one-and-a-half-year, 17 FIRs have been lodged against her which showed she was a victim and not an oppressor and Uppal was one of the main conspirator in the case.
According to reports, Arya who has been accused in certain cases of threats, stalking etc filed against her by her brother, who is residing abroad, due to some property disputes. The cases are going on in Saket court.
Her lawyer had claimed that the high court's December 18, 2017 order protecting the woman from coercive action was passed before 4pm and was communicated to the investigating officer of the case.
However, he still proceeded to her house, broke it open and dragged her out, the lawyers claimed.
