A woman ticket checker was injured after she accidentally fell from a moving local train on the platform of Hafizpet railway station here today, in a bid to nab a ticketless passenger, Government Railway Police said.

The travelling ticket examiner (TTE), Geetha, who was on duty in a Multi-Modal Transit System (MMTS) train running between Kachiguda and Lingampalli railway stations, found one passenger travelling in the train without ticket and imposed a fine of Rs 260 on him, Nampally GRP Inspector Lingeshwar Rao said.

"The passenger showed her a Rs 500 note and the TTE issued the fine receipt. However, when the local approached Hafizpet railway station, he immediately got down from the train without paying the fine amount," Rao said.

In order to collect the fine from the passenger, Geetha also tried to get down from the train. However, since the train had picked up speed again, Geetha slipped and accidentally fell on the platform and suffered minor injuries on her face, the police officer said.

The fine amount was not collected from the passenger, who is absconding, but the TTE was not pushed by the passenger, police said.

"We have recorded the statements of the woman TTE and an RPF woman constable who was escorting her and both narrated the same sequence of events. No complaint has been lodged so far by the TTE in this connection. If any complaint is filed, we will proceed as per law," the officer said.
