Lahiri comes back in Round 2 at weather-hit Indonesia Open

Anirban Lahiri gave himself a fair chance to chase Order of Merit leader, David Lipsky as he Indian fired a superb five-under 66 to make amends for his first round 74 at the BANK BRI Indonesia Open today.

Lahiri is now two-under 140 and in tied 28th place, the same as Lipsky (72-68).

Lahiri was one of the only thee Indians to complete their second round and Jyoti Randhawa (71-68) was the other one at tied 22nd at three-under 139. Himmat Rai (73-74) was way behind and was unlikely to make cut.

Arjun Atwal was also three-under but he had seven holes to play in second round, which was stopped by bad weather.
 

Other Indians yet to finish were SSP Chowrasia (68 and one-over through 13 in second), Chiragh and Rahil Gangjee, who were both one-under with two and five holes to play respectively. Gaganjeet Bhullar (73 and even through 13 in second round) and Shubhankar Sharma (74 and even through 10 in second) are still in play. Daniel Chopra was also yet to finish.

In-form Thanyakon Khrongpha of Thailand fired a superb eight-under-par 63 to seize the clubhouse lead as Padraig Harrington's charge was stopped by bad weather.

The slightly-built Thai produced a near perfect card in the calm morning conditions which included nine birdies before stumbling to a lone bogey on his last hole to settle for a 12-under-par 130 total at the Damai Indah Golf, PIK Course.

Multiple Major winner Harrington negotiated his way in 12-under through 12 holes before the US$750,000 halfway stage was called off for the day due to inclement weather. The Irishman and 66 other players will resume play at 6.30am on Saturday.

Among the players who finished their rounds include Asian Tour rookie Nathan Holman of Australia, who was two shots back after matching Thanyakon's efforts of 63, while Scott Hend and Jarin Todd of the United States shot identical 64s for a 133 total.
