Terming construction of the plaza as "another milestone" achieved by the state government towards infrastructural development in Jammu and Kashmir, Rather said the plaza will go a long way in curtailing frequent traffic jams at Lakhanpur.

"We announce that the ambitious Rs 49 crore new toll plaza at Lakhanpur will be commissioned after 15 days. The construction of the plaza is another milestone of the present government towards infrastructural development for making J&K a model state in the country", Rather said during an inspection of the plaza.

Besides better management of traffic, Rather said the plaza will provide modern facilities to the transporters, commuters and traders.

After inspection of the toll plaza, Rather also chaired a high level meeting and took a broad review of the status of works on the toll plaza.

Rather also directed the engineers of PHE and power departments to restore water and electricity supply to the complex by November 30 this month so that the inauguration of the toll Plaza is ensured anytime during the first week of next month.

The new toll plaza at Lakhanpur will have nine modern tax collection booths, separate bays for trucks, cars and buses, night stay-shelters for drivers with a capacity to accommodate 145 drivers, three open-air restaurants, an emporium showcasing artefacts of the state and modern toilet blocks.

The toll plaza will also have a vast parking yard to accommodate about 200 trucks at a time.
