"These (growth rate) are only on paper and based on colourful data provided by the state government ... The claim of development under Nitish Kumar rule is like a lion made of lac which would melt under the heat of truth," Prasad told reporters here.

Making a scathing attack on his bete noire, Prasad said "Nitish Kumar's development is only on paper and based on advertisements in newspapers."

'"While the CM is credited for rapid economic growth on the one hand on the other hand he is seeking special status for the state," he said.

If the Planning Commission report on state finances is true, Kumar should tell the life standard of how many BPL families have improved in the state so far.

The report said the nominal gross state domestic product growth rate of Bihar was 21.9 per cent during the 11th Plan.

Prasad also contested the JD(U)-BJP government claim of constructing 35 km of roads daily in the state and said the National Highway Authority of India data said only 1 km of road is being built in the country in a day.

Besides, the Nitish Kumar government was not providing expenditure details of funds from central schemes, he added.
