"His absence will be felt on this pious occasion of Chhath," Rabri Devi told reporters at her 10 Circular Road residence while starting preparation for the festival.

Prasad, who is currently lodged in Ranchi jail after his conviction in a fodder scam case, used to make the festival very lively for family members, party workers and others.

Rabri said Prasad used to take care of all arrangements for Chhath festival. But, his absence this time is making us sad.

Rabri began the preparation for the festival on which devotees worship Sun god by drying wheat at her home.

Sounding brave, Rabri Devi, who will be guiding the RJD in absence of her jailed husband, said "Prasad is physically not present with us but he lives in our mind and heart."

She performs Chhath at swimming pool inside her official residence.

RJD secretary General Ramkripal Yadav told PTI though absence of Lalu Prasad on holy occasion of Chhath will be definitely felt we would be present around Rabri Devi to lessen her burden on the occasion.

After denial of bail by the Ranchi High Court, Lalu Prasad missed diwali and will not be available at home for Chhath festival too.
