The Delhi Development Authority today handed over a plot to Public Works Department for construction of 50-bedded hospital at Naraina.

The DDA handed over the possession of the plot in the presence of Delhi Transport Minister and Local MLA Ramakant Goswami.

The PWD would construct a 50-bed hospital over an area of 2700 square metres within 18 months.

Goswami said the hospital was badly required in the locality as residents were forced to go to other hospitals situated far away.

The poor residents were also facing a lot of difficulties in odd hours as they were not finding it easy to take any auto or other modes of transport, resulting in deterioration of the condition of patients, he said, adding locals had been demanding forcefully for setting up a hospital for one decade.

There were inter-departmental issues over allotment of land which were resolved after convening number of meetings.

The construction of the hospital would benefit the residents of Naraina Village, Naraina Enclave, Dasghara, Todapur, Inderpuri and other resettlement colonies.

Goswami said Bhoomi Pujan of the hospital would take place on Sunday.
