"District administration will not spare land grabbers who are in unauthorised possession of Land Management Committee (LMC) lands, ponds, and other barren lands," District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma said.

Sharma said that the district administration is in the process of preparing a list of land mafia, who have grabbed the government lands over the years.

An 'Operation Clean' has also been initiated by the district administration to recover the government lands and green belts which have been converted into residential colonies and commercial establishments by the mafia, he said.

"We have received several complaints from various quarters, where people have become the victims of illegal colonisation on government lands," the DM said, adding that "all those found guilty of possession, sale, of such lands will be prosecuted under relevant sections of lands law along with the Gangster Act".

CCTV cameras will be installed at Tehsil headquarters and Revenue Records Office to keep strict vigil on the persons approaching the office and applying for certified copies of 'Khasras' and 'Khataunis', Sharma said.

A screening committee has also been formed to monitor all the government land related records and no person will be allowed to apply directly for certified copy of any record concerning government lands, the DM said.
