The district administration today demolished unauthorised construction at Gulavli village and freed five lakh square metre of encroached land, officials said.

The freed land, a portion of which belonged to gram samaj too, was worth over Rs 1,000 crore, they said.

Land mafias had grabbed the land and developed unauthorised colonies and sold plots to innocent buyers who had constructed room on the land, the officials said.

Noida Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rama Raman said, "Demolition drive in association with district administration and police will continue regularly and all unauthorised colonies in the city would be demolished. I have appealed the buyers not to buy land from land mafias."

In Noida notified area, only the district authority has the right to buy and sell land after development as per master plan approved by the NCR board.
