A landmine was recovered and a Maoist training camp was destroyed in course of a search operation in Lutta-Putta forest area under Huntergunj police station of Chatra district today, the police said.
District Superintendent of Police Surendra Kumar Jha said there was prior information that the Maoists on the directive of its central committee member Sandeepji, were planning to ambush the security personnel.
Jha, who himself led the search operation launched by the security personnel and 190 battalion of the CRPF, said the Maoists fled on seeing the approaching security personnel.

A Maoist training camp was, however, destroyed and large number of Naxal literature, bomb making materials, ammonium nitrate, camouflage uniform and other items were recovered, he said.
A 20 kg landmine planted on the path was also defused by the bomb disposal squad, he said adding the explosive was planted to harm the security personnel.
The search operation was on to apprehend the ultras, Jha added.
