Landslides disrupt surface communication in Arunachal

Anini and Roing, the headquarters of both the districts have been cut off since the last three days due to blockade at several points along the road caused by heavy downpour, official sources said here today.

Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner Abu Tayeng, who is personally monitoring the situation, instructed the Border Road Organization (BRO) to restore the road communication immediately.

The DC asked the BRO to position men and machinery immediately at vulnerable points prone to landslides and frequent erosions, the sources said.

Vehicles carrying PDS items and other essentials commodities were stranded at various points which may cause shortage of essential commodities, the sources said.

 

Massive erosions have reportedly occurred at places like Endulin and Erone under Arzoo circle of Dibang Valley, the sources said.

Meanwhile, continuous downpour was hampering the restoration work by the BRO, the sources added.
