Official sources said today PWD roads running from Pachi to Pipu, Seppa to Chayangtajo and Pakke to Khenewa in the district have been blocked due to landslides, affecting traffic movement and supply of essential commodities.

East Kameng DC Tope Bam had issued directives to the concerned department to clear the road blocks within 10 days and submit action taken report to him, sources said.

The Seppa to Chayangtajo NEC road executed by Gammon India Ltd recorded slips and landslides at various locations. However, the said road has been restored for movement of light vehicles up to Chayangtajo and the executing agency has been directed to make the road conducive for heavy vehicles on priority, sources said.

Heavy erosion and landslides were also witnessed at various stretches of Pakke-Khenewa road, more especially at Pakke point, which has however been restored for light vehicles. Same was the case with Pachi to Pipu road. The department is putting all out efforts for restoration of the roads on a war footing, sources added.
