Sixteen fishermen from this coastal town, arrested by Sri Lankan Navy in October, were released by the island nation today.
A court in Jaffna ordered their release from prison, according to information received by Rameswaram Fishermen's Association leader P Sesuraja.
He said that Sri Lankan naval personnel would hand over the fishermen to the Indian Coast Guard at the International Maritime Boundary Line tomorrow.
More than 130 Tamil Nadu fishermen, arrested on various occasions, are still languishing in different prisons in Sri Lanka, he said.
