Lankan president to visit Pak

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will arrive in Pakistan on Sunday for his first official visit to the country, the government said today.

The invitation for the visit was extended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Sri Lankan President will be in Pakistan from April 5-7.

The Foreign Office said that during the visit, Sirisena will meet his counterpart Mamnoon Hussain who will host a state banquet for the Sri Lankan president. Sharif will also hold official talks with Sirisena.

"A number of MOUs/Agreements of cooperation in various fields would be signed after the talks," the Foreign Office said.
 

The Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly and senior ministers will also call on the visiting dignitary.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have close ties in different fields, including defence.
