A 37-year-old Sri Lankan was detained by the Marine police in Dhanushkodi for trying to go to Colombo by boat this evening, without a passport.
Vijayakumar, hailing from Colombo, had come to Tiruchirappalli in 2007 and was working in a private firm in Chennai.
He was returning to the island nation after having resigned from his job. Interrogations are on to find out how he landed on Indian shores as he had no valid papers.
