Large explosive haul in Ganjam, 2 held

Police today seized around 5,000 detonators, 579 gelatin sticks, five bundles of live wires and two drilling machines from two persons at Buguda, about 60 km from here, in Ganjam district.

This huge quantity of explosives was seized from the houses of Panu Sahu and Dulal Dalia in Buguda, a senior police officer said.

The duo possessed the highly explosive materials without any valid documents, he said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the houses of duo, and recovered the explosives.

Sahu was stated to be the main supplier of the explosive materials to the different quarries in the district illegally.
 

The officer however ruled out the possibility of supply of the explosives to the Maoists by the duo.
