A large quantity of explosives, including 110 detonators and 131 gelatin sticks, have been seized from an illegal granite quarry near Srivilliputhur here, police said.

Besides the detonators and gelatin sticks, 600 detonating chords and 60 metres of fuse wire were found buried in a pit at the quarry yesterday during a raid by 'Q' branch police, they said.

The manager of the quarry has been arrested.

Police are also on the lookout for another person who buried the explosives and supplied them from Tirunelveli.

Cases have been registered against both of them for storing explosives in an improper and hazardous manner.
