Large investment projects in Odisha make significant progress

Implementation of large investment projects in Odisha have seen significant progress in recent months because of resolution of newly emerging issues and bottlenecks, an official release today said,

A review taken by Project Monitoring Group of Prime Ministers' Office held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary A P Padhi here today, project-wise progress was examined, it said.

To a query after the meeting, S D Sharma, Joint Secretary in the PMO said, "We have reviewed around 15 projects of worth more than Rs 43,000 crore and have marked significant progress in the projects".

The rehabilitation and land acquisition projects have picked up and many projects are in advanced stage, he said. This will be helpful in creation of employment opportunities and infrastructural development in the state.

 

Major projects reviewed in the meeting included Khurda-Bolangir new rail link project with estimated cost of Rs 3,550 crore, Sabamlpur-Bamur doubling with estimated cost of Rs 1,111 crore, Haridaspur-Paradeep New railway line estimated at Rs 1,000 crore, Talcher-Bimilagarh new rail line estimated around Rs 811 crore, Angul-Sukinda new line project estimated around Rs 6,386 crore, Chandikhol-Duburi-Talcher section of NH estimated around Rs 996 crore, Binjabahal-Teleibani section of NH with estimated cost of Rs 1,057 crore, Singara-Binjabahal section of NH estimated around Rs 1,082 crore, Angul-Sambalpur toll road project estimated around Rs 1,220 crore, Rs 1,410 crore Panikoili-Rimuli NH, an official said.

Issues relating to rehabilitation, disbursement of compensation, shifting of utilities, compliance to forest diversion proposals, forest clearance, issue of FRA certificate and compensatory afforestation were discussed and resolved, he said

e-PMS, an online project monitoring system, has been put in place by the centre to monitor the investment projects. The system tracks and facilitates the progress of the projects.

The system includes facilities for online submission of projects, editing and updating of the projects, reviewing the projects and submission of details relating to bottlenecks, if any, the official release said.
