large liquor haul, several arrests

A large quantity of illicit foreign liquor and country liquor was recovered after an illegal mini liquor unit was busted from Barabanki, on National Highway 33, in East Singhbhum district today, official sources said.

Led by the Commissioner of Excise Department, Arvind Kujjur, the officials of excise department first conducted raid based on a tip-off and busted a illegal mini-liquor factory at a house, Kujjur said.

Four persons were arrested in this connection while large quantity of illegal foreign liquor of branded companies like Royal Stag and Officer's Choice were recovered, he said.

The seized liquor was worth Rs.10 lakh, he said adding the officials also seized country-made liquor.
 

Later, the officials led by Kujjur also conducted raid in a hotel near Dalbhumgarh on NH 33 under Ghatsila sub-division and recovered large quanity of foreign liquor and country made liquor.

Similar raids were also conducted in hotels in copper township of Maubhandar, Musaboni and Jadugora and altogether 13 persons including the owner of a hotel Subodh Kumar, arrested for illegally stocking and selling foreign liquor and country-made liquor.
