: A large number of goats were mauled to death by a tiger at a village near a forest area, about 30 km from here today, police said.
They said people of Devadanampattihad village had appealed to forest department officials to trap the tiger and leave it in the deep forest area.
The locals told police that they had seen the marks of the tiger's claws and canines in the area.
The goats had been kept in an open area around which a temporary fence had been put up, they said.
