Tension mounted in Debai town, about 50 kms from here, following three separate incidents earlier this week involving people belonging to different communities.

A large contingent of security personnel has been stationed to avoid any flare-up. Senior Superintendent of Police Anant Dev Tiwari said additional police forces drawn from neighbouring police stations have been deployed in the town to check any untoward situation.

In the first incident, two youths entered into a girls' college during the Republic Day celebrations and allegedly molested a girl. The brother of the girl was allegedly roughed up by the duo when he resisted their bid. An FIR has been lodged against the duo, police said.

Hours after the first incident, a spat between a grocer and a customer over payment led to flare-up and the motorcycle of the customer was allegedly set on fire by the shop owner.

Following this incident, seven graves were reportedly found damaged on Tuesday morning in a graveyard in Latherkhere locality.

The spate of incidents involving people belonging to different communities led to building of tension in the area, a police officer said.
