Large quantity of ammunition seized from ASI

A large quantity of ammunition, a grenade and a ring of fuse wire were seized from an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the India Reserve Battalion (IRB) by the GRP at Guwahati Railway Station today, a police spokesman said.

GRP men conducting a security check in a coach of Down 12505 N-E Express Train here found the ammunition and explosives from ASI Ram Naresh Rai of 3rd IRB at Khilitirsi of Jowai in Meghalaya, the spokesman said.

Earlier posted as an Armourer of 1st Bn in Meghalaya, Rai was proceeding to his village Bariyarpur in Bihar when he was apprehended with the ammunition, the official said.
 

The 442 live ammunition include 41 INSAS, 60 of .303 BDR, 78 of 9mm, 49 of .32 pistol, 124 of 7.62 BDR, 20 of .38 revolver, 10 of AK-47, 60 of .22, besides an empty case of four .303, six of 5.56 INSAS, .36 live grenade and a fuse wire.
