Late strikes help PSB salvage a point

Punjab and Singh Bank (PSB) scored two late goals to hold title contenders ONGC to a 3-3 drw3a in a Group B league match of the MCC Murugappa Gold Cup hockey tournament, here today.

Playing the last and third match of the evening, ONGC were leading 3-1 inside 60 minutes but PSB made a strong comeback to find the net twice in the last 10 minutes of the match to salvage a point.

Meanwhile, in the first game of the day dragflicker VR Raghunath scored four goals (3rd, 11th, 47th and 67 minutes) to help defending champions IOC to get the better of Air India 5-4.
 

IOC captain Deepak Thakur scored the other goal for ONGC in the 32nd minute, while for Air India Joga Singh scored twice and Gagandeep Singh and Vikram Pillay found the net once each.

In a Group A game, Army XI beat Karnataka 2-1 through goals by Rajanish Salariga and Binoy Bhengara, while Honnu Swamy netted for Karanataka.
