Deepak Lather of Haryana set a national record en route his gold medal winning feat in the men's 62kg competition of the Senior National Weightlifting Championships here today.
Lather lifted 126kg in snatch, beating the Indian standard of 125kg before accumulating 266kg (126+40) to steal the spotlight on the second day of the championships.
G Anbarasu of Railways and Vishal Byakude of Maharashtra bagged the silver and bronze with total lifts of 260kg (115+145) and 258kg (117+141) respectively.

In men's 69kg category, Sambo Lapung of Arunachal Pradesh ran away with the gold medal with a total lift of 284kg (126+158) while M Ramakrishna and Naveen Chandra of Karnataka won the silver and bronze with efforts of 283kg (126+157) and 272kg (121+151) respectively.
In women's 53kg category, Harshdeep Kaur of Punjab bagged the gold with a total lift of 186kg (80+106) while Matsa Santoshi of Railways and Deeksha Gaikwad of Maharashtra won the silver and bronze with efforts of 180kg (80+100) and 174kg (75+99) respectively.
