Launch eye screening programme on Aug 15, Telangana CM tells

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed the "Kanti Velugu" programme of conducting eye tests for all citizens in the state should be launched at 2 p.m on August 15.

Rao, who held a meeting with officials here, said he would launch the event in a village in his Gajwel Assembly constituency near here, a release from his office said.

The chief minister said he would request state Governor ESL Narasimhan to launch the programme at a place of his choice, according to the release.

Rao said the programme should be launched simultaneously all over the state on the same day.

State ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs and all elected representatives should be requested to participate in it, he said.

 

"The chief minister has also instructed that everyone in the state should have the facility of free eye tests and for all who required, spectacles and medicines are to be supplied free of cost. If necessary, for those who require, (eye) operations are also to be done free of cost," the release said.

Separately, Rao congratulated officers of Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority for obtaining ISO certification for the temple, a release said.

"The ISO certification is given for environment, security, management and power supply aspects as well as for unique management of temple. The ISO certification for the temple is the first of its kind and first in India," it said.
