Laundry shop cylinder blast leaves over 12 injured in Munirka

Over a dozen people were injured in a cylinder blast at a laundry shop in south Delhi's Munirka this evening.

Police said some of the injured are in critical condition.

A call about the blast was received at 7.26 PM and two firetenders were rushed to the spot, said an official from the Delhi Fire Services.

The fire was brought under control in 45 minutes.

The cylinder blast led to a building-collapse and some people were stuck under the debris. Some passersby were injured due to the fire, an eyewitness said.

The police said 14 people were injured and are currently receiving treatment at different hospitals. They are yet to be identified and some of them are said to be critical, polie said.
 

Eyewitnesses said there was a deafening sound when the blast ocurred. The windowpanes of nearby buildings and windshields of cars were broken due to the blast, said an eyewitness.

The area has been cordoned off. Sources said that around five-six cylinders were kept in the shop.
