In the wake of recent attack on Sikh preacher Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said law and order in Punjab would be maintained at all costs and no violation will be allowed.

The Chief Minister said the state government is fully seized of the matter and he is personally keeping a close tab over the current situation.

He was interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of Sangat Darshan programme at Uggi village in Nakodar Assembly constituency here.

Badal said 14 persons have been nabbed till now and investigations are on.

Hitting out at Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh, Badal said leaders like him should refrain from issuing "provocative statements on such sensitive matter, which could otherwise be detrimental to the peaceful and congenial atmosphere in the state".

Meanwhile, on the SYL Canal issue, Badal reiterated his party would never ever allow water to flow through it (the SYL canal) as "we don't have a single drop of spare water to share with anyone".

He said he is ready to sacrifice even his government not once but ten times in defence of the "state's legitimate rights over its share of river waters".

He also asked the people to be ready to safeguard "our river waters", saying "our future generations would never forgive us otherwise".

The Chief Minister said both Congress and AAP were "hand in glove with each other to desperately convert our prosperous state into a desert".

"Amarinder Singh (state Congress chief) who is now shedding crocodile tears over this issue had welcomed the then prime minister late Smt Indira Gandhi to lay foundation stone for the construction of SYL," he said.
