Lawyer, assistant killed in road mishap

A 27-year-old lawyer and his assistant were killed today after their two-wheeler was hit by a vehicle on the Ropar-Chandigarh toll plaza, police said.

Tarun Kakkar, who was practising at local court, and his assistant Surinder Chugh (22) died on the spot.

The two were on their way to Kharar town and as they crossed the Kurali toll plaza, their scooter was hit by a vehicle coming from behind, they said.

As the news of the accident reached, members of Ropar district bar association decided to strike work and demanded immediate arrest of the accused driver.
