A lawyer was booked here for allegedly sending fake recommendation letters to a public sector bank bearing the signatures of Union Minister Suresh Prabhu and UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey, police said today.
Acting on a complaint filed by Bharat Dixit of the BJP, the police registered an FIR against Rakesh Kumar Awasthi.
According to the complaint, Awasthi forged the signatures and letterheads of Prabhu and Pandey to secure a job of legal advisor in a public sector bank.
"The FIR was registered against the accused under Section 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 469 (Forgery for purpose of harming reputation) of the IPC," the police said.
