A lawyer affiliated to the ruling AIADMK was arrested today for allegedly criticising Special Court Judge John Michael Cunha's judgement, convicting former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a wealth case, police said.

Thanga Kolanjinathan, an advocate affiliated to the AIADMK had allegedly put up a banner at nearby Thittakudi, criticising Cunha's judgement.

He had alleged that "justice had lost and injustice won," in the wealth case. He had also strongly criticised the political rivals of AIADMK, including DMK chief M Karunanidhi.

Cases were registered against the advocate under various sections of the IPC, the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act, and another Act, Inspector of Thittakudi Town K Sudhaker told PTI.

On September 27, a special court in Bangalore had sentenced Jayalalithaa to four years in prison, besides imposing a Rs 100 crore fine in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case.
