About 40,000 lawyers in Andhra Pradesh abstained from duties in the courts and also organised sit-ins in support of demand for according special category status to the State.
In a statement here, Andhra Pradesh Bar Association member M Subba Rao said "about 40,000 lawyers abstained from duties in the courts across the State to demand special category to AP."
"Special status is Andhra people's right and the Union Government should implement the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014," he said.
Lawyers also organised dharnas in the front of courts, he said.
