Functioning of the Burdwan court in West Bengal remained paralysed for the second day today following protest by the bar association members against alleged police atrocities on an advocate.
The lawyers under the Burdwan bar association protested inside the court premises and functioning was paralysed after the alleged police assault on Santiranjan Hajra by police personnel in his house on February ten last.
Bar association assistant secretary Biswajit Das alleged that the police went to the house of Hajra on a complaint based on a dispute over property and assaulted him.

"Despite producing required valid documents, the police assaulted him",he claimed.
The association demanded that police sub inspector who led the team should be punished and apology tendered to the victim following which the agitation will be withdrawn.
